Vilnius Records Historic Rise in the Global StartupBlink 2026 Ranking

The StartupBlink 2026 ranking, which analyses global innovation trends and startup ecosystems, shows that Vilnius continues to strengthen its position as a favourable environment for startups. The Lithuanian capital has climbed from 69th to 66th place, while Lithuania ranks 22nd globally among the countries assessed this year.

The StartupBlink ranking is regarded as one of the world’s most important assessments of startup ecosystems. Countries and cities are evaluated on the basis of quantitative, qualitative and business environment indicators, including the number of startups, investment attraction, ecosystem growth, talent potential, infrastructure and international competitiveness.

According to StartupBlink 2026, Vilnius grew by 19.7% over the year. This helped the Lithuanian capital rise in the global city ranking from 69th to 66th place. Vilnius remains the only Lithuanian city among the world’s top 100 for startup ecosystem activity. According to the ranking, the city stands out for its active technology community, growing investment and favourable conditions for business development.

Lithuania, meanwhile, slipped from 19th to 22nd place in the ranking. The stated reason for this was slightly slower growth compared with other countries.

According to Karolina Urbonaitė, Head of Startup Lithuania at the Innovation Agency Lithuania, international rankings of this kind send an important signal to investors, talent and technology companies considering new directions for expansion.

“Lithuania is a fast and flexible country, which is especially important for startups operating in today’s highly dynamic environment. The country offers favourable conditions for the growth of fintech, life sciences, software and other sectors of the future. The fact that Lithuania remains visible in international startup ecosystem rankings demonstrates the consistent growth of the ecosystem. We are becoming a trusted innovation partner, a centre of attraction for investors and a place where talent comes together,” says K. Urbonaitė.

Vilnius continues to have the greatest influence on Lithuania’s overall result, as the only city in the country ranked among the world’s top 100 startup hubs. According to StartupBlink, the capital stands out for its rapid ecosystem growth, active technology community, increasing investment and favourable environment for business development, while also retaining its leading position in the Baltic States.
